Why does Southwest charge a fare difference when there is no change fee?

A change fee and fare difference are different. A qualifying ticket may be changed without a traditional change fee, while a more expensive replacement flight can still require payment of the applicable fare difference.

Can I change my Southwest flight to a cheaper flight?

Depending on your fare and the applicable rules, changing to a lower-priced flight may result in a credit or another adjustment. Check the specific reservation for the exact treatment.

Can I change my Southwest flight on the same day?

Same-day changes may be available for eligible travelers and itineraries, subject to applicable conditions and flight availability.

Can an OTA change my Southwest flight?

If your ticket was issued through an OTA, the agency may need to handle certain reservation changes. Check the confirmation to determine who issued and controls the ticket.
